The Star Trac SCTx Cross Trainer delivers full-body elliptical conditioning with moving handlebars, natural stride path, forward and reverse stride capability, and multiple resistance levels on a 483 lb commercial frame — the SCTx is a cross trainer rather than a standard elliptical, which means the handlebars are mechanically linked to the pedals and both move through the full stride arc together. This produces simultaneous upper and lower body loading: the arms push and pull the handles through a pattern synchronized with the leg stride, engaging chest, back, and shoulder musculature in addition to the lower body. Forward stride primarily recruits the glutes and hamstrings; reverse stride shifts emphasis toward the quadriceps and hip flexors — adding reverse stride to intervals is a practical way to target both ends of the leg musculature without changing machines. At 483 lb the SCTx has substantial commercial frame mass, which produces the smooth, momentum-rich feel that separates commercial cross trainers from residential units.

Multiple resistance levels from light rehabilitation through high-intensity intervals. User-friendly interface with clear readouts. 483 lb Star Trac commercial frame, 76" × 30" footprint. Remanufactured.

Mechanically linked handlebars move through the full stride arc with the pedals — engaging chest, back, and shoulders simultaneously with the lower body. Forward stride recruits glutes and hamstrings; reverse stride shifts emphasis to the quadriceps and hip flexors. Combining both directions in a session targets the full leg musculature without changing machines or resistance setups.
483 lb Commercial Frame · Natural Stride · Multi-Resistance
At 483 lb, the SCTx has substantial commercial frame mass producing smooth, momentum-rich stride feel that distinguishes commercial cross trainers from residential units — particularly at lower cadences and resistance levels. Natural stride path reduces joint stress. Multiple resistance levels serve light rehabilitation through high-intensity interval training.

1. How do total-body ellipticals engage the upper body?

Moving handles sync with pedals to work arms, shoulders, and core.

2. What power requirements exist?

Most total-body ellipticals are self generated, while others require a standard 110 V outlet. None require a 20 amp outlet.

3. How often should I lubricate the machine?

Apply a light silicone lubricant to moving components every 6 months.

4. What financing and warranty options apply?

Same financing as all other cardio; new units carry full OEM warranty, remanufactured include Build A Gym's 1 year guarantee. Extended warranties available at checkout.

30-Day Returns & Exchanges

Buy with confidence. Every Build A Gym order includes a 30-day window to return or exchange, whether you want a different size, color or configuration. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility and a 15% restocking fee applies to preference returns; warranty and damage claims carry no restocking fee.
