Product details

Commercial-grade equipment, inspected and supported by warranty.

The Precor Icarian Olympic Incline Bench is built for barbell incline pressing with an angled back pad targeting the clavicular head of the pectoralis major and anterior deltoids, integrated barbell racks, wide base stability, and heavy-duty high-density padded Icarian commercial construction — 287 lb bench, 80"×67" footprint. The incline angle is the training variable that determines which region of the pectoralis major receives the primary loading: where a flat press loads the mid-sternum fibers and a decline press loads the sternal and costal fibers, the incline press shifts the force vector upward relative to the torso, directing load toward the clavicular fibers that run from the collarbone down to the humerus. These fibers are oriented differently from the mid and lower chest fibers — the incline direction aligns with their angular pull more closely than a horizontal press does, producing greater clavicular head activation that flat pressing cannot replicate regardless of load. The incline angle also increases anterior deltoid involvement relative to the flat press because the upward press direction requires the shoulder to contribute more to the pressing arc. Integrated barbell racks are built at the height appropriate for the incline bench setup — the lifter sits against the angled back pad with the bar racked at a height that allows a natural unrack with arms nearly extended, which is higher than a flat bench rack position. A separate power rack adapted to incline pressing positions the bar at the wrong height relative to the lifter's seated incline position, which is the setup reason a dedicated incline bench with integrated racks is the correct equipment for this movement.

Wide base for maximum stability under heavy incline pressing loads. High-density padding for comfort through sustained sessions. 287 lb Precor Icarian commercial incline bench, 80"×67" footprint. Remanufactured.

Incline Angle — Clavicular Pec and Anterior Delt Loading Flat Pressing Can't Reach
Incline angle shifts the press force vector upward, directing load toward the clavicular pectoralis fibers and increasing anterior deltoid contribution — both of which flat pressing underloads regardless of weight. For lifters whose upper chest development lags their mid-chest, the incline angle provides a training stimulus that cannot be replicated by loading a flat bench heavier. Integrated racks are set at the height appropriate for the incline seated position rather than adapted from a flat bench rack height.

Wide base provides maximum stability under heavy incline pressing loads — the wide upright stance resists the rearward tipping force during the pressing movement. Integrated racks built for the incline angle allow a natural unrack with arms nearly extended from the seated back-pad position. High-density padding for sustained session comfort. 287 lb Icarian heavy-duty steel commercial frame.
