The Precor Discovery Series Triceps Extension delivers selectorized triceps isolation with gas-assisted ratcheting seat adjustment, open weight tower, add-on weight lever, and 11-gauge fully welded steel construction — 160 lb stack, 442 lb commercial frame, 47"×44" footprint. The 160 lb stack is calibrated for the triceps as an isolation muscle group: the triceps are the largest muscle on the upper arm and contribute substantially to all pressing movements, but as an isolated muscle they are considerably smaller than the quads, glutes, or lats that drive other machine stacks toward 200–400 lb. A 160 lb triceps extension stack covers the full realistic range from light beginner loading through advanced isolation work without the stack capacity going to waste on weight that triceps-isolated training will rarely reach. Gas-assisted ratcheting seat adjustment serves the same function here as across the Discovery Series — pneumatic resistance makes positioning practical from the seated position rather than requiring a manual adjustment that users skip. On a triceps extension, seat position determines the elbow height relative to the extension arm pivot: if the elbow is too low, the movement pulls the shoulder into flexion before the triceps are in the productive extension range; too high and the elbow lifts off the pad under load. Getting this right is exercise-specific, which means the gas-assist is genuinely used rather than bypassed. The add-on weight enables sub-increment triceps progression on a smaller muscle group where standard stack steps are proportionally larger percentage jumps.

Open weight tower for clear selector pin access. Oversized rubber handles for secure grip throughout the extension. 442 lb Precor Discovery commercial frame, 160 lb stack, 47"×44" footprint. Remanufactured.

Gas-Assisted Seat — Elbow Position That Determines Extension Quality
Seat position sets elbow height relative to the extension arm pivot — too low pulls the shoulder into flexion before the productive extension range; too high lifts the elbow off the pad under load. On a triceps extension, this is an exercise-specific adjustment users actually need to make correctly for the movement to work. Pneumatic adjustment from the seated position removes the friction that causes users to skip it.
160 lb Stack · Add-On Weight · Open Tower · 11-Gauge Frame
160 lb covers the full realistic triceps isolation range — the triceps are smaller than the quads or lats and a stack calibrated for isolation training rather than compound movement loading. Add-on weight enables sub-increment progression where standard stack steps represent proportionally larger percentage jumps on a smaller muscle group. Open tower keeps the selector pin visible and accessible from the bench.

1. How do I select weight on a selectorized machine?

Insert the weight pin into the desired stack hole; ensure it clicks into place before use.

2. What weight stack size should I choose?

Most base level weight stacks can accommodate even advanced lifters, but for the real weight-movers, look for the items with expansion stacks.

3. What maintenance is required?

Inspect guide rods and stack alignment monthly; wipe rods and replace worn bushings annually.

4. Is installation available?

Yes—schedule professional installation during checkout for a seamless setup.

5. What warranty covers these machines?

New units carry full OEM coverage; remanufactured units include a 12 month Build A Gym Guarantee.

30-Day Returns & Exchanges

Buy with confidence. Every Build A Gym order includes a 30-day window to return or exchange, whether you want a different size, color or configuration.
