The Life Fitness Signature Series Seated Leg Press delivers smooth linear press motion with an oversized footplate for multiple foot positions, adjustable seat and back pad, and selectorized resistance — the seated leg press geometry produces a different hip and knee loading pattern than angled sled designs: the horizontal seat-to-footplate orientation keeps the hip flexion angle more consistent through the press range, which reduces the pelvic posterior tilt that can occur at deep hip flexion on angled presses and keeps the lumbar spine in a more stable position throughout. The oversized footplate enables deliberate foot position variation — high foot placement recruits more glute and hamstring; low placement shifts emphasis to the quad; wide stance increases adductor involvement — making foot position the primary programming variable on this machine. The adjustable seat and back pad positions the user correctly relative to the press axis for different leg lengths.

Oversized Footplate — Foot Position as Training Variable
The oversized footplate enables deliberate foot position variation across the full press range — high placement recruits more glute and hamstring, low placement shifts emphasis to the quad, wide stance increases adductor involvement. Foot position becomes the primary programming variable for targeting different portions of the lower body without changing machines.
